Ordered from Hausermann on July 13, 2026 and shipped by FedEx on July 16. Delivery was expected July 18, but FedEx incorrectly reported that the recipient was unavailable. The package remained at the facility over Sunday and was retrieved on July 20 after approximately four days in transit. The plant arrived severely stressed and subsequently lost one flower spike and approximately ten leaves. During early August, the pseudobulbs remained green and reasonably firm, and a small new growth was visible, although older foliage continued to yellow and deteriorate. Photographs reviewed August 6 showed no obvious bacterial soft rot or widespread fungal infection; the condition was recorded as “recovering from shipping stress.”

On August 10–11, the plant was removed from its pot for examination. The root mass and old medium were exposed, with damaged or darkened roots and continuing yellow and brown deterioration of the foliage. Over the following weeks, additional leaves were lost despite close monitoring. By late August, the plant had become uprooted and was reduced largely to leafless pseudobulbs with a severely compromised root system. The surviving pseudobulbs remained plump, indicating that living tissue and stored reserves were still present, but no new leaves were visible.

As of September 3, 2026, the plant remains in intensive recovery indoors under a grow light, protected from outdoor heat, rain, and further environmental stress. Survival remains uncertain, but the firm, plump pseudobulbs indicate that the plant is not dead.
